LS ELECTRIC G100 drive offers flexible motor control

LS ELECTRIC America is highlighting its G100 General AC Drive, a compact variable frequency drive designed to provide flexible motor control across a range of industrial and commercial applications.
The low-voltage VFD is intended for original equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and facility teams working with equipment such as conveyors, fans, pumps, and general machinery. According to LS ELECTRIC, the G100 is designed to allow users to standardize around a single drive family while accommodating different motor-control needs.
The G100 combines a compact mechanical design with features intended to simplify installation and operation. Most models include a built-in EMC filter to reduce electrical noise and support applicable standards, although 200 V models are offered without the integrated filter.
The drive is designed to UL 61800-5-1 requirements and includes a Safe Torque Off, or STO, function. The safety feature allows torque to be removed from the motor without disconnecting the main power supply, providing an additional option for incorporating safer stopping functions into machinery and equipment.

For agricultural and other operations relying on pumps, fans, conveyors, and similar motor-driven equipment, variable frequency drives can provide greater control over motor speed and operation rather than requiring equipment to continuously operate at full speed.
The G100 supports both Heavy Duty and Normal Duty operation, allowing it to handle constant-torque and variable-torque loads. LS ELECTRIC says its motor-control algorithms are designed to provide strong starting performance and stable speeds.
The series also includes sensorless vector control, which can provide higher torque at low speeds without requiring an encoder. That capability can be useful for equipment requiring more precise motor performance under changing loads.
Installation was also a focus in the G100’s design. Compact dimensions and DIN-rail mounting can reduce the amount of panel space required, while an optional conduit box provides another option for protecting wiring connections. A speed potentiometer incorporated into the keypad allows operators to make manual adjustments during setup and maintenance.
Flexible I/O, analog inputs, and programmable relays allow the G100 to connect with PLCs, sensors, and building automation systems. The drive also includes what LS ELECTRIC calls an “Advanced User Sequence,” which provides basic PLC functionality within the drive itself. Users can configure the feature through LS ELECTRIC’s DriveView9 software and multi-function digital input terminals.
Integrated PID control further allows the drive to regulate variables such as pressure or flow, potentially reducing the need for additional external control components in applications such as pumping and ventilation systems.
LS ELECTRIC America is part of South Korea-based LS ELECTRIC, which manufactures automation and power-distribution equipment for industrial, infrastructure, and commercial applications.
