Mike Metzger to take over as Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative president and CEO

WAHPETON, N.D. — The Board of Directors of Minn-Dak Farmers Coopertive has announced Mike Metzger will serve as the cooperative’s next president and CEO.

Metzger has worked for Minn-Dak for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of leadership and technical roles. Most recently, he has served as executive vice president, overseeing day-to-day operations in the CEO’s absence, representing the cooperative at industry events and assisting in strategic planning and execution. Prior to that, he served as vice president of agriculture and research and held positions in agronomy and research.


Metzger will assume his new positions on Sept. 1, 2027, taking over for Rick Kasper, who will stay in the roles until Aug. 31, 2027.

“The Board of Directors has strong confidence in Mike’s qualifications, leadership abilities, and deep understanding of the cooperative’s mission, operations, and grower-owner focus. His extensive background in sugarbeet production, research, operations, and Cooperative leadership positions him well to lead Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative into the future,” a statement from the board said.

Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative is based in Wahpeton and is owned by farmers on the North Dakota and Minnesota sides of the Red River Valley south of Interstate 94.
