Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $74.69 Aug. 3 and $73.87 July 28.

U.S. hogs averaged $99.45 on a carcass basis Aug. 3 and $100.69 July 28.

The U.S. pork cutout was $100.91 per hundredweight Aug. 3, down from $104.45 July 28.

In Canada, the Aug. 1 Signature Four price was $244.70 per 100 kilograms, up from $241.12.

The Aug. 1 Hams Marketing cash price was $242.70, up from $239.12. HyLife was $260.45 this week, while on July 25 it was $257.06. OlyWest was $247.40, up from $241.70.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $255.10, from $249.60, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $260.45 this week.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $700-$735 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $695-$720 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls and cows were $550-$600 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$510-$540 per cwt. for bulls and $490-$520 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 173 sheep and 371 lambs sold July 27.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,427 sheep and 309 goats sold July 27.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $430-$510 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $360-$435, 70-85 lb. were $340-$380, 86-105 lb. were $330-$365, and 106 lb. and heavier were $280-$330. Wool rams were $200-$225 per cwt. Cull ewes were $200-$300.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $380-$460, 55-69 lb. were $350-$390, 70-85 lb. were $320-$380, 86-105 lb. were $320-$350 and 106 lb. and heavier were $270-$310. Hair rams were $210-$230 per cwt. Cull ewes were $200-$240.
