Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $68.43 on June 23, while on June 16 it was $70.56.

U.S. hogs averaged $97.26 on a carcass basis June 23, down from $97.57 June 16.

The U.S. pork cutout was $95.23 per hundredweight June 23, down from $95.57 June 16.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 23 was 0.942 million. It was 0.963 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 0.929 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 20 Signature Four price was $229.37 per 100 kilograms, down from $229.82.

The June 20 Hams Marketing cash price was $227.37, down from $227.82. HyLife was $243.46 this week, while on June 13 it was unavailable. OlyWest was $231.60, up from $231.40.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $237.40, from $239.70, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $243.46 this week.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $700-$735 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $695-$720 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $550-$600 per cwt. and mature cows were $550-$600 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$510-$535 per cwt. for bulls and $485-$515 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 316 sheep and 584 lambs sold June 22.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,430 sheep and 170 goats sold June 15.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $440-$570 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $380-$470, 70-85 lb. were $350-$410, 86-105 lb. were $350-$395, and 106 lb. and heavier were $340-$380. Wool rams were $180-$235 per cwt. Cull ewes were $195-$300.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $370-$470, 55-69 lb. were $350-$440, 70-85 lb. were $340-$380, 86-105 lb. were $330-$375 and 106 lb. and heavier were $330-$375. Hair rams were $195-$270 per cwt. Cull ewes were $210-$275.
