Woody’s Feed & Grain in Dickinson damaged by fire

Fire crews from across western North Dakota responded to assist Dickinson firefighters through mutual aid agreements.
“We did reach out for mutual aid to our rural Stark County agencies,” Dassinger said. “We also had assistance from Bismarck, Mandan, Williston, Watford City and Dunn County as well. We greatly appreciate their assistance. It’s still an active situation.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Dassinger said the North Dakota State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate, a process he said could take considerable time. The city has not released information about injuries or the extent of the damage. The investigation remains ongoing.
At 6 a.m. on Saturday, the Dickinson Fire Department Facebook page said crews remained on scene to extinguish hotspots.
The Woody’s Feed & Grain Facebook page thanked the community for its help.
“Today has been one of the most difficult days they have faced, but the love, prayers, and support from this community have been nothing short of incredible. Every message, phone call, and act of kindness has meant the world to the family and the entire Woody’s team,” a post there said.
As crews continued working throughout the day on Friday, Dassinger praised local businesses and community members for supporting first responders with food, water, ice and electrolyte drinks.

“We’ve been rotating staff through,” he said. “It’s hot outside, so we are rotating staff through. We’re very grateful to all the businesses that have helped us with water, electrolytes, food and ice. We greatly appreciate the support they’ve given to our public safety officials and everybody who’s been on scene, from Public Works to Fire to the Police Department to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office helping us with the perimeter.”
