Worker dies after incident at Tyson Foods beef plant in Washington

A worker at a Tyson Foods beef processing plant in Washington state has died following an industrial accident, according to local and industry reports.
According to multiple news sources, the incident occurred May 15 at the company’s facility near Pasco, located in the Wallula Gap area. The Walla Walla County coroner confirmed that a 27-year-old man died after suffering a severe injury at the plant. His name has not been released pending notification of family members.
The Tri-City Herald reported that emergency crews responded to the facility early that morning and remained on site for several hours, according to reporting by the Tri-City Herald. Further details about the cause of the incident have not been made public, and an autopsy was scheduled as part of the investigation.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our team members following an incident at our Pasco facility. Our thoughts are with the family and our team members,” the Tyson Foods spokesperson told reporters. “We are working with local authorities to investigate what happened and have notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.”
The Pasco-area facility employs about 1,500 workers and includes beef processing operations along with related infrastructure.
